Introduction
Rasaut (Rusot / Huzaz) is a concentrated extract obtained from Berberis aristata (Zarishk). It appears as a yellowish-black solid, has a bitter taste, and possesses a distinct characteristic odor. It is widely used in Unani and traditional medicine for both internal and external applications.

- Mixed with butter as ointment for warts
- Oral tablets help shrink piles (hemorrhoids)
- Washing with diluted solution helps dry piles and improve healing
3. Eye Disorders:
- Dissolved in rose water and used as drops
- Relieves eye pain, redness, and irritation
4. Ear & Throat Conditions:
- Drops used in ear pain, swelling, and discharge
- Gargles help in throat inflammation and gum swelling
5. Urinary & Reproductive System:
- Useful in gonorrhoea
- Increases urine flow (diuretic effect)
6. Fever & General Diseases:
- Beneficial in malaria, fever, boils, and scarlet fever (especially in children)
- Mentioned in classical texts (e.g., Sharangdhar Samhita) for jaundice
