French Marigold

Introduction

French Marigold plants grow abundantly in fields of jowar, bajra, and other crops during the rainy season. Its delicate leaves are also eaten as greens. The plant grows to a height of about 3–4 feet.

Its branches are soft, smooth, and somewhat reddish. The leaves resemble pine-shaped pepper leaves, but they are larger. Their edges are reddish, while some leaves have reddish spots.

Flowers

A flower grows at the end of each branch. It is about 2 inches long, pine-shaped, and striking in appearance, with white and pink colors. The flower feels very soft to the touch.

When the dried flower is rubbed by hand, it releases flat, black, shiny seeds resembling poppy seeds.

The plant is produced along with the Kharif crops in India and Pakistan.
