Introduction
Asra, also referred to as Black Lead, Satya, Anak, or Pushka, is an ancient metal known for its medicinal applications in traditional systems such as Unani medicine. It has been used primarily for its astringent and drying properties in various therapeutic formulations.
Physical Properties
Asra is a soft, heavy metal with a whitish-blue color. When freshly cut, its surface appears bright and shiny, but upon exposure to heat or air, it becomes dull or tarnished.
It is highly malleable and can easily be formed into wires and sheets, which melt readily under furnace heat. Pure Asra is rarely found in nature; it is commonly obtained in combination with sulfur-containing ores, from which lead is extracted.
