Introduction
Sumac is the fruit of a tree. The fruits are small or slightly larger than lentil seeds and have a flower-like shape. The peel of the fruit is used medicinally. This fruit is known as Popt Sumaq or Guru Sumaq. It has a sour and pleasant taste.
Temperament
Cold and dry, second degree.
Uses
It is traditionally used for bilious diarrhea. When combined with Sangar Honey, it is believed to help prevent nausea and vomiting and relieve thirst. It is considered particularly beneficial for people with a hot temperament.
It stimulates the appetite and strengthens the stomach. It is also used as a gargle to relieve toothache and strengthen the gums.
As a poultice, it is traditionally used to help restore displaced contents and is also applied externally in cases of hemorrhage.
