Overview

Constipation is considered the main cause of many stomach diseases; therefore, it is often referred to as the “mother of diseases.”

Symptoms

Defecation does not occur easily. It takes a long time to relieve oneself. The patient experiences severe constipation.

Causes

Eating fried curry with bread can cause constipation. The consumption of iron compounds may also lead to this condition. Drinking insufficient water is another major cause.

Dietary Measures

Soft foods such as porridge, millet, and oatmeal should be consumed. Soaking bread in broth and eating it may help relieve constipation. Food should be chewed thoroughly. Water should be consumed several times a day. Fried foods, salted fruits, dried fruits, rice, and bananas should be avoided.

Gul Surkh: 2 grams
Kalonji: 6 grams

Gas (Flatulence)

Overview

In this condition, the digestive tract from the stomach to the anus becomes filled with air.

Causes

This condition is common among shopkeepers and office workers who sit for long periods. Overeating can also cause gas. Excessive intake of fried, spicy, and heavy foods contributes to this problem. Excessive consumption of beverages may also lead to gas. Mental stress, anxiety, and excessive cognitive work are additional contributing factors.

Cholera

Overview

Cholera is a contagious disease characterized by repeated vomiting and diarrhea, and it may sometimes reach epidemic levels.

Symptoms

The patient experiences repeated or simultaneous vomiting. Due to the loss of water and salts, the body becomes weak and lethargic. The hands and feet become cold, and the eyes appear sunken. In the absence of timely treatment, the patient should drink water mixed with salt to compensate for electrolyte loss.

Prescription

Kalonji: 6 grams
Dried mint: 12 grams
Cardamom powder: 3 grams
Garlic powder: 6 grams

Vomiting

Causes

Vomiting may occur due to the accumulation of undigested food in the stomach. It may also result from stomach pain, liver swelling, headache, or high fever. Persistent vomiting requires immediate treatment. The presence of blood in vomit is a serious symptom and requires immediate medical consultation.

Kalonji: 2 grams
Dried mint: 12 grams
Cinnamon: 2 grams

Hiccups usually occur due to the accumulation of waste materials in the stomach and often subside after drinking water.

Causes

They are commonly caused by indigestion, heartburn, and improper liver function. Persistent hiccups may indicate underlying digestive issues.

Stomachache

Consumption of heavy, gas-producing, and slow-digesting foods can lead to indigestion and flatulence, resulting in stomach pain.
