The ear is one of the most important sensory organs given by God Almighty, responsible for the sense of hearing. Sound waves travel through the air and enter the ear canal, where they strike the eardrum. These vibrations are then transmitted to the brain, allowing us to perceive sound. Due to its delicate structure, the ear can easily be affected by various conditions, leading to pain, hearing loss, or discharge.
Earache
Earache is a common condition that can cause significant discomfort and may arise from different internal or external factors.
Causes
- Careless removal of earwax, especially using hard or pointed objects, can damage the eardrum.
- Entry of water into the ear during bathing, swimming, or washing can lead to infection or irritation.
- Sometimes, earache may also occur as a result of toothache, as the nerves of the ear and teeth are closely connected.
Symptoms
- Severe or persistent pain in the ear
- Discomfort that may worsen with movement or touch
Traditional Remedy
Mix equal amounts of kalonji oil and sesame oil.
Method of Use
Put 2 drops of this mixture into the affected ear to relieve pain.
Precaution
The oil should be slightly warm, not hot, before use. Only two to three drops should be applied at a time to avoid irritation or damage.

Deafness and Ear Discharge
These conditions may develop gradually or suddenly, depending on the underlying cause.
Causes
- Aging can cause narrowing of the ear canal, leading to reduced hearing ability.
- Growth of fleshy lumps or obstructions in the ear canal may interfere with sound transmission.
- Water entering the ear, especially during swimming, may damage the eardrum or cause infection.
Traditional Remedy
- Mustard oil
- Almond oil
- Kalonji oil
Method of Use
Mix equal quantities of these oils and apply one drop into the affected ear three times a day—morning, afternoon, and night.
Ear Inflammation (Otitis)
Ear inflammation involves swelling and irritation inside the ear, often causing pain and discomfort.
Traditional Remedy
Mix kalonji oil with olive oil.
Method of Use
Put a few drops of this mixture into the inflamed ear to help reduce inflammation and discomfort.
General Precautions
- Avoid inserting sharp objects into the ear.
- Keep the ears dry and clean, especially after bathing or swimming.
- Do not ignore persistent pain, discharge, or hearing loss.
- Use remedies in moderate amounts and ensure they are not too hot before application.
